City of Sherman
Animal Shelter

We have many wonderful animals available for adoption at the Sherman Animal Shelter. All of these animals were relinquished to us by their previous owner or have become the property of the City due to no owner claiming them after a stray holding period. Our staff and volunteers ensure our dogs and cats receive lots of enrichment and socialization while awaiting their forever homes. Adoption fees are $50 for dogs and $40 for cats. This includes spay/neuter, the first set of vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs, and a microchip. If you're interested in adopting a pet, stop by for a visit and one of our trained staff members will assist you in your search for the perfect addition to your family!

Sherman Animal Services partners with Sherman citizens, veterinary health professionals, and animal welfare organizations to promote responsible pet ownership and provide for the safety and well-being of the animals in our care awaiting adoption. Sherman's Animal Services Officers facilitate adoptions, assist with injured and nuisance wildlife, capture stray animals, and enforce state and local animal laws throughout the city.

Sherman Dog Park

The Sherman Dog Park is the ideal location for you and your best friend to hang out. The dog park is located inside Fairview Park, 1121 W. Taylor Street. When entering Fairview Park from the east continue past the soccer and baseball fields until the road Y’s in front of Veteran’s Baseball Field. Take a right and it will lead you straight to the Dog Park.

The park features plenty of benches, trash cans, mutt mitts, and two separate play areas for different sized dogs. Owners taking their dogs must remember that they are fully responsible for their dogs at all times. Any dog that is left will be taken to the local animal shelter.

If you would like to support the future growth of the Sherman Dog Park and memorialize your pet forever, click here to purchase a brick that will be engraved and set in the walkway into the dog park.
